Ann Van Hine was born in Oxford, England, but has lived in the United States
since she was 2 years old. Ann grew up attending the Episcopal Church. Upon
graduation from high school, she attended community college as she also pursued
her dream of being a ballerina. In 1974, a friend invited Ann to a Bible Study
and Ann realizing that she was “missing something” accepted the Lord as her
Savior.
A year later, Ann would start her own business and on that very same day, she
would meet her future husband, Bruce Van Hine. Ann owned the New School of
Dance Arts with her good friend, Carol Maffei since 1975 to June 2011.
Bruce and Ann were married on June 14, 1980 at the New Milford Church of the
Nazarene. Two daughters would be born to them – Emily in 1984 and Meghan in
1987. In 1990, Bruce would achieve his lifetime dream of being a New York City
Firefighter. Bruce was killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001.
Ann is currently the Children’s Ministries Director for the Metro New York
District Church of the Nazarene – her passion for many years as been “telling
the next generation”. She is the children’s ministries director for
Warwick Valley Church of the Nazarene. On Wednesday evenings,
Ann teaches children’s Bible quizzing.
Since September 11, 2001, Ann has had opportunity to share the story of God’s
presence and peace through “her family’s personal lose in the midst of a
national tragedy”. Ann is also a volunteer guide with the Tribute Center in
Manhattan where she gives walking tours of the World Trade Center site.
